The sequel to Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is to be longer according to Eddie Redmayne.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them burst onto our screens in 2016 and it was 133 minutes of pure magical bliss. Interestingly it was one of the shorter movies of J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World. Ony Harry Potter and Deathly Hallows – Part 2 has a shorter run time of 130 minutes.

Its sequel, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald is coming up soon. In approximately 8 months and 11 days, not that we are counting, the adventures of Newt Scamander will continue and fingers crossed that feeling of magical bliss will return, maybe even be heightened.

Longer than the first

The experience of the sequel, however, whether better or worse than the first, will be longer. Eddie Redmayne, who plays Newt Scamander, explained this when in an interview with Collider.

He was discussing more than just Fantastic Beasts at the time but when asked about the sequel and how it compared to the first he explained it would be longer.

"Was it a similar shoot to the first one? Was it a little longer?I think it may have been ever so slightly longer."

How long exactly is anyone’s guess? It could be 3 minutes longer, it could be 30 minutes longer. Redmayne himself is probably not even sure, but it doesn’t really matter. After all, the more magic we get the better.
