Ever wanted to go to magic school? Well, while that’s not quite possible, this Harry Potter convention for adults only is certainly a good replacement.

It’s time to release your inner 11-year-old and have fun at the Harry Potter event for adults only. Wizard U. started five years ago with a group of friends who wanted to enjoy real butter beers, fireball whiskeys and more.

It’s just like every other Harry Potter convention, but without the kids wanting the hayrides and face painting. You still get to dress up, enjoy the magic-infused world and even practice your spells and wand swishing.

What is Wizard U?

Initially Pottercon, the event has morphed into Wizard U and travels around the country. While it’s completely unofficial, there are plenty of fans who get to mingle over the books and movies they’ve grown passionate about. In February, Wizard U took to New York City, but there are many more events coming up.

One of the popular events at Wizard U. is the Wizard Pong. It’s a wizarding adaptation of the popular college game, using beer and wizard rings to keep everyone entertained. You also won’t want to miss out on the palmreading, which even if you don’t believe in Divination, everyone will enjoy!

And just like all other conventions, Wizard U. is a chance to show off your creativity. Spend time figuring out your character and put together your costume. You’ll find your tribe within the event.

Wizard U. is more than just a convention. It’s college for all those who didn’t get their letter to Hogwarts (or elsewhere) at 11. This is your chance to experience magic school and everything that comes with it.

Want another reason to go? A portion of your ticket costs will go to a charity of your choice. Wizard U. doesn’t want to make a profit, but make the world a magically better place.
