Netflix’s Sabrina series: 5 actors we want to see

Although Netflix’s Sabrina series has some major roles cast, there are still plenty of characters who need people to bring them to life.

With the news that Lucy Davis has joined the cast of Netflix’s Sabrina the Teenage Witch/Chilling Adventures of Sabrina series as Hilda Spellman, as reported by Deadline, we now know quite a few actors who have roles in the series.

However, the show still has its work cut out for itself when it comes to casting some more characters. It’s possible that the announcements just haven’t been made yet for some of these roles, but let us cast a spell over you with these five casting choices for the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina series.

Lana Parrilla

Hey, we need someone who’s got a mean streak to play Zelda Spellman, and since Once Upon a Time is on its way out, why not let the woman behind the Evil Queen play her? Additionally, Parrilla’s more than familiar with handling CGI. Besides, she’s actually also gotten some directing experience — which could mean she could take a hand in production, too, an always welcome thing.

Of course, we’d be more than happy to let her play against type as well; she’s just spent the past several years of her life playing a notorious villain and sometime-antihero, after all. Still, Parrilla’s built a fanbase that might be attractive to Netflix to drum up interest in this show.

Jordan Fisher

Smooth, charming and cute, Jordan Fisher would make an excellent Harvey Kinkle, otherwise known as Sabrina’s love interest/boyfriend. The whole point is for the human world to tempt Sabrina away from pursuing her magical studies, right?

Granted, the plotline of the original comic doesn’t let Harvey last long, but instead, someone comes back and just, well, borrows his body. (We can’t tell you who — but we do suggest you read the comic for yourself.) That would let Fisher play both a role he’s used to and let him work on his acting chops by giving him a second character.

Anya Taylor-Joy

Anya Taylor-Joy has a sort of spooky look about her — pun intended, since she’s slated for an appearance in The New Mutants as Magik. Veronica and Betty actually make some appearances in the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina comic, although they’re pretty minor all told. However, there might be room for expanded appearances for these two familiar characters.

Of course, Netflix might not like having two Bettys and two Veronicas, considering that Riverdale airs on Netflix outside the States. But let us dream for a bit, okay?

Additionally, Veronica and Betty could both be young witches in training, offering the series multiple perspectives on what it’s like. Perhaps their mentors could also share scenes with Hilda and Zelda.

Alexandra Daddario

See above about Betty and Veronica’s presence in Chilling Adventures. It’s true that writers like Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa might take it somewhere different than the comics so far, but for those who aren’t familiar with the ’90s Sabrina the Teenage Witch, the presence of the iconic duo (albeit both as witches) might be a bit comforting. Daddario could easily play Betty to Taylor-Joy’s Veronica.

Charlie Heaton

Salem needs a voice, and in the comics, he’s actually quite young when he’s turned into a cat (in Salem, Massachusetts, naturally), meaning he needs a young, vaguely accented voice actor to bring him to life. Charlie Heaton’s already part of the Netflix family due to his work in Stranger Things, and we’re sure he could find the time to work on both.

Funnily enough, Heaton has also worked recently with Taylor-Joy in the film Marrowbone. You can check out the trailer above.

Alternatively, we wouldn’t say no to Thomas Doherty (using his full native Scottish accent, naturally) as Salem.
