Why we really want a Harry Potter GO!

A Pokémon Go Harry Potter version would be an amazing thing.
Some time ago, Harry Potter fans all got really excited at the idea of a Pokémon Go Harry Potter game. Reports were being made that the game was in the making by the company behind Pokémon Go and would be arriving in 2018.
It soon emerged later that this was actually not happening. It was nothing more than a genuine “Fake News” story. All the claims that were made by the original source could either not be backed up and any sources they claimed to have used were unverifiable.

In short, someone wrote a made up story and other news sites picked it up and it quickly went viral. It then took a considerable amount of time to debunk and straighten things out with the aid of several other websites who went and did some fact-checking.
The story was so popular that if you Google Pokémon Go Harry Potter, you will still come across plenty of news articles detailing on how the game will be coming fairly soon. Now maybe, after this story went viral, think tanks behind Pokémon Go will create a Harry Potter version of the game, but there is nothing official out there saying that it will happen, so far.
Thing is, wouldn’t it be great if we did get a Pokémon Go Harry Potter version?

If you thought Pokémon Go got a bit crazy, you can bet that a Harry Potter version would be even crazier. Running around, using your phone as a wand. Exploring the open world, a.k.a your local park/neighbourhood and running into a Dementor or Acromantula and having to cast a spell in order to save yourself. Having the ability to organise and duel other users of the game.
It would be a massive frenzy of fun, people shouting out spells and flicking their phones around at invisible nothingness or each other. To the average person walking by it would look ridiculous but to all of us Harry Potter fans. It would be magical.
Why it is unlikely to ever happen
Niantic, the company behind Pokémon GO, have their hands full with Pokémon GO. The game was so unexpectedly popular that the game repeatedly crashed due to the servers being so overwhelmed with the number of users.
With Niantic continually trying to manage the stability of their servers and with heavy criticism on the locations that the Pokémon Go game uses. It is unlikely the company is looking to taking on another AR based game anytime soon.

Fingers crossed that one day it will become a reality but for now, it will have to stay an awesome dream.
