Game of Thrones season 8 spoilers: Guess who might be paying a visit
Game of Thrones season 8 could see a familiar character in a familiar location, and it’s time to break down what that could mean.
Warning: Game of Thrones spoilers on a Sunday? You bet.
It appears that we might have shed some light on the events of King’s Landing that we know are coming in Game of Thrones season 8. Of course, it depends on how much stock you put in gossip, albeit gossip that appeared first from the Dubrovnik Times and then on our sister site, Winter is Coming, which could boost your confidence.
Effectively, it seems as though King’s Landing might see Jon Snow pass through its walls once again. If you’ve been paying attention to spoilers, you know that a major setpiece is supposed to take place in the city.
Now, it doesn’t completely clarify what he could be doing here, but the original Times article does say that other “main stars” will put in appearances — leading us to conclude that it’s at least possible that it might be Daenerys Targaryen doing the burning of King’s Landing. After all, as things stand at the start of season 8, they’re closely allied. She could easily lead an air assault while he storms the city from the opposite end, catching the city up between them and making it awfully difficult to defend.
Of course, that wouldn’t necessarily account for the specific use of the plural. Only one person plays Daenerys, after all. Lena Headey as Cersei Lannister seems like she’s pretty much a lock for being in King’s Landing. However, is it possible that we see Jaime Lannister return to the city as part of the attack or perhaps as advance warning to try and secure peace one last time so as not to have to fight his sister, if joining the Targaryen cause is what he’s up to as season 8 starts?

It’s all guesswork at this point in time, but we think the reasoning, at least, is fairly sound. As filming continues, we might be lucky enough to get a better idea of who’s there — and what it could mean for the storyline.
