The Definitive Ranking of Every Song on Taylor Swift’s Holiday Collection EP

In 2007, fresh off her 2006 self-titled release Taylor Swift released a six-track Christmas album exclusively through Target. In honor of Christmas, we’re ranking every song from the album from worst to greatest.

While Swift’s Christmas project is mostly filled with covers like “Last Christmas” and “Silent ‘Night,” it’s also one of her earlier projects that displays Swift’s songwriting abilities. The album features two original tracks: “Christmas Must Mean Something More” and “Christmases When You Were Ming”. They’re both outstanding tracks and could be some of the best on the EP.

But she also displays some fantastic renditions of “White Christmas” and “Silent Night”. So, if you haven’t listened to the EP, you can do it right here as we rank each song individually. At the end, you’ll have to tell us if we got it right and which track is your favorite. So, grab your peppermint bark and hot chocolate and listen to some Swiftmas tunes.

SANTA BABY

The songstress does a good job covering the song but we’ve always wished she would have chosen a better a song. “Santa Baby” isn’t a favorite but at least Swift makes it likable and she almost has us believing that Santa Baby owes her a ring. Needless to say, her rendition isn’t bad at all, it’s just not our favorite.

LAST CHRISTMAS

It’s crisp, cheerful and delightful all at once. Her country twang definitely shines throughout this track and showcases that, indeed, she used to be a country artist. It’s a fun rendition and one that we often get stuck in our heads. Swift did well with this one.

WHITE CHRISTMAS

This rendition is impressive as it shows off a country twang. The background vocals add a nice touch, and while Swift’s voice still had a lot of growth to go through to get to where she is today, she’s still impressive throughout the track. We definitely give this one a thumbs up.

SILENT NIGHT

Her Christmas spirit really shines through on “Silent Night” and could very well be one of the strongest vocally. While some Christmas albums seem more manufactured, Swift does a great job at making this one feel like it’s her own and that is evident in her rendition of “Silent Night”.

CHRISTMAS MUST BE SOMETHING MORE

This is one of Swift’s original songs on the album, one that is inviting the listener to look beyond Santa, candy canes and presents and learn what the real meaning of Christmas is all about. This is an early example of Swift’s outstanding songwriting abilities. Her creativity and knack for a great song is what makes the EP what it is and it shines through on “Christmas Must Be Something More”

CHRISTMASES WHEN YOU WERE MINE

A tale of holiday heartbreak seems morbid but Swift makes it effortlessly beautiful. “Christmases When You Were Mine” showcases her lyric ability the most and is by far the most memorable track on the EP. You can sense the amount of sadness and rawness in her voice as she sings “I’m doing fine without you, really,” and as heartbreaking as it is, it’s all the more beautiful. Even at the age of 16, Swift was a master at her craft and this song proves it.
