Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal engagement is on — and Twitter and other social media outlets had plenty of reactions to the photos.

Just in time for Christmas, the public was graced with a gift from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle as their royal engagement continues.

On Thursday morning, Kensington Palace released the couple’s royal engagement photos.

Check them out below:

Photographer

Alexi Lubomirski, a fashion and celebrity photographer based out of New York conducted the shoot. Lubomirski used to work as an assistant to Mario Testino, who he met while making showing off his portfolio from university in London. Testino’s work has been featured in Vogue, Vanity Fair and GQ among others. Testino was the photographer on Kate and William’s photos when they were engaged.

Within the fashion industry, Lubomirski has established a name for himself having conducted shoots for Vogue Spain, Vogue Russia, Vogue Germany, GQ, Harpers Bazaar UK, Harpers Bazaar US, Allure and many others. He has also worked with celebrities such as Jennifer Aniston, Charlize Theron, Angelina Jolie, Beyoncé, Katy Perry, Jennifer Lopez and others.

He is also the author of a book entitled Princely Advice for a Happy Life, appropriate as Lubomirski has Polish royal blood, inherited from his birth father.

The Style

The photos exhibited some key differences in stylistic choices from William and Kate’s shoot in December 2010. Meghan and Harry looked more relaxed while William and Kate were more restrained. The locations they chose were also different. Meghan and Harry took their photos at Frogmore House in Windsor, close to Windsor Castle, out of doors. William and Kate opted to take their photos inside at St. James’ Palace in Central London — where William and Harry grew up with their father, Prince Charles. Though there were differences between their engagement photos both couples appeared happy and very much in love.

Meghan wore a Ralph & Russo full length gown from the designer’s autumn/winter 2016 collection and Prince Harry donned a navy suit by Burberry for some of the photos. In the close up shot, Meghan looked cozy in a cream colored sweater while Harry sported a Burberry coat that he and Meghan were both wrapped in in an affectionate gesture.

In the photos as well, Meghan’s ring, designed by Prince Harry (with a center stone from Botswana, surrounded by two stones from Princess Diana’s personal jewelry collection) and fashioned by Cleave and Company was on display in two of the three photos that were published yesterday morning.
