The VOID Star Wars hyper-reality experience is a must for fans
If The Last Jedi excitement wasn’t enough, the VOID, a Star Wars hyper-reality experience at Disney Springs, gives fans the ultimate Star Wars experience.
Now open at Disney Springs, The Void, Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire, a Star Wars-themed hyper-reality experience has Star Wars fans excited. This fully immersive experience has players venture into the Star Wars world on an exhilarating mission. Are you ready to become a stormtrooper?
The VOID has teams of four go on a mission as stormtroopers. Players don’t sit and have things move around them. Instead, the players walk, interact, move and fire blasters. From actual movement to even particular smells, this hyper-reality experience has players completely transformed.
Using special technology, players have their own characteristics. The scanning process has the game character physically appear like the person in the game. While the mask prevents actual face recognition, the size and proportions match the actual player.
Throughout the hyper-reality experience, the players must work together to finish the mission. In teams of four, the players must figure out a way to work together. The tasks aren’t too difficult. There is a slight learning curve. Still, groups can figure out a shorthand fairly quickly.
While this hyper-reality experience is geared toward the Star Wars fans, non-Star Wars aficionados can still enjoy the mission. Of course, there are a few more exciting moments for the super fan, but the experience is fun for even a person who doesn’t know BB-8 from BB-9E.
For the ultimate Star Wars fan, the VOID can be a dream come true. Instead of imagining what it’d be like to walk through the Galactic Empire, people actually can in this experience. The dramatic end of the 30 minute experience should leave fans wanting more. While there are currently no plans for an update or second experience, the door is definitely left open.
This type of hyper-reality experience shows the best of virtual reality technology. Over the years, rides have gone from simple simulators to fully immersive experiences. Even during the recent IAAPA conference in Orlando, companies showcased products that had riders become part of the ride or game.
These advanced technologies allow participants to interact with each other. One of the best parts of any ride experience is sharing it with other riders. From watching facial expressions to hearing loud shrieks, the ride experience is heightened when sharing it with others. These newer hyper-reality rides take those factors into account.
Seeing how other participants interact in the hyper-reality experience heightens the ride. Working together to solve a task, becoming part of the virtual reality world or even just experiencing the ride with a friend can make people want to come back time and again.
