Taylor Swift was awarded a symbolic $1 dollar when she won her case against former Denver DJ David Mueller. However, during a new interview, the 27-year-old “Look What You Made Me Do” singer has revealed that she never actually received the money.

In August of this year, four years after a backstage groping at a meet in greet, Mueller was found guilty of “assaulting and battering” Swift. Now, four months later, he has yet to pay Swift the due amount.

Taylor Swift offers an update to Time magazine

“To this day he has not paid me that dollar,” Swift admitted in the new issue of Time magazine, via a report by Hollywood Life on December 6. “And I think that act of defiance is symbolic in itself.”

As fans have likely heard, Swift is one of many “Silence Breakers” who was honored by Time magazine on the cover of their Person of the Year cover, which was confirmed this morning on the Today show. In the magazine, Swift and others, including Alyssa Milano and Rose McGowan, are applauded for helping to launch a movement against sexual harassment.

Speaking to the magazine, Swift opened up for the first time about Mueller’s sexual assault against her, which involved the former DJ reaching up her skirt and placing his hand on her bare butt. Following the incident, Swift reached out to Mueller’s employee and he was ultimately fired.

Taylor Swift says going to court against David Mueller was ‘lonely’ and ‘draining’

After stating that the men and women who have come forward with claims of harassment and abuse are “brave,” Swift admitted that going to court against Mueller wasn’t the easiest experience. As she explained, confronting Mueller about his inappropriate behavior was “a lonely and draining experience,” despite her court win against him.
