Even though all three of the main characters of Star Wars: The Last Jedi get lines in the latest teaser, it’s Finn who’s most important.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi has a weekend surprise for sharp-eyed fans: a new teaser. Its description talks about Finn, but the title, “Heroes,” seems to refer to all three of our protagonists.
Indeed, all three of them get the chance to speak — but Finn comes first, and Finn gets a second line at the end, too, to emphasize that it’s his scene. It’s John Boyega’s face we see as the preview image for the clip, at least on YouTube, while Twitter’s version instead shows off Poe Dameron.
So, what exactly is fresh here for Finn? Well, we get to see what happens when he wakes up from his recovery:
Pay close attention to what he’s wearing when he talks to Poe — it’s clear that this isn’t long after he wakes up shouting Rey’s name, because it’s the same white clothing he has on in the recovery pod. All he wants to know is where his friend is, the friend that, the last time he remembers, was in a serious amount of danger.
And the teaser then reminds us where exactly Rey is: on Ahch-To, learning from Luke Skywalker. Presumably, Poe’s the first person the medical technicians call, because it’s not like Finn really has a lot of friends (especially with Rey gone).
Also, isn’t it so nice to hear Poe call Finn his friend.
To accommodate Finn’s second line, we’re also treated to brief snippets of each of the characters engaging in combat or with weapons. There’s Finn and Captain Phasma. Poe’s in his X-Wing, and Rey swings her lightsaber around.
Notably, we don’t really see a lot of the villains, appropriate for the name of this teaser. Phasma’s helmet gets a closeup, but Kylo Ren’s presence is only signified by a brief shot of his holding his instantly-recognizable lightsaber.
