Mr Robot season 3 preview: eps3.5_kill-process.inc

Mr. Robot season 3 continues, as long-awaited fallout occurs for several people on many different fronts.

After a visually stunning and somewhat shocking episode in which Elliot learned of both Angela and Darlene’s betrayals, Mr. Robot has a lot of follow up to do. As viewers, we have plenty of questions about where things go from here, but the real-time format of “eps3.4_runtime-error.r00” didn’t allow us to see much in the way of fallout from these revelations.

Theoretically that should change with this week’s episode. “eps3.5_kill-process.inc” will get the chance to directly deal everything that happened last week.

The episode’s official synopsis is predictably vague, but does seem to promise major doings, including an ominous hint that Stage 2 will really take place.

"remember, remember, 29th of september. elliot faces off with mr. robot. dom grows tired of red tape but tries the ribs for escape. tyrell’s new plan wont be forgot."

It’s certainly intriguing to think that Tyrell will have a major part to play here. The language in this particular blurb echoes the famous rhyme about the 17th century Gunpowder Plot (which most of you probably heard in V for Vendetta if nothing else) and casts Wellick as a Guy Fawkes figure of sorts. Does that mean that he has come up with a back-up Stage 2 plan of some type? Will Angela’s attempt to launch Phase 2 fail? And just where is Tyrell at in this whole process? Now that he now longer seems to believe in his fellow god Elliot, is he still a true believer in the Dark Army and its goals? Or is he just looking to punish E-Corp?

(Plus, let’s not forget that he still doesn’t even know his wife is dead.)

The trailer for “eps3.5_kill-process.inc” also seems to hint that several long-awaited confrontations are to come:

If the above promo is anything to go by, it looks as though this episode will pick up right where “eps3.4_runtime-error.r00” left off. Yes, that means we’re going to get to see that sure-to-be-intense confrontation between Elliot and Angela. (Angela’s “We need to let today happen” is chilling, and this is only the episode trailer!)

It also appears as though Elliot and Mr. Robot are in for some kind of physical confrontation. At least, that’s the only way I can think to read the bit in the trailer where it looks like Elliot’s been thrown into a wall, but is also in a room alone. If this is true, it’s also another confrontation we’ve been waiting all season to see, since the two personalities haven’t really interacted directly since Elliot was shot at the end of season 2.

In short: There’s probably going to be a lot going on. Let’s hope we’re all ready for it.
