The Sirius XM set included two songs from her highly anticipated album reputation and a tribute to the late Tom Petty.

The iconic pop star stepped into the Sirius XM studio on the afternoon of November 10 to play acoustic tracks for a few selective fans. She played the set in a glass-walled studio in New York City and it was a beautiful performance.

Swift started her set talking about how she felt like she was on the set of the “…Ready For It” music video, ready to break through the glass and hug her fans. She then went to explain how the album is a definition of what her life has looked like over the last three years, and how she felt when she started the album and progresses to how she where she is now in her life. If you’ve heard the album, you can certainly see that throughout the entire reputation story.

She started the set with ‘Call It What You Want,” which became all the more loveable as Swift plucked at her guitar. The arrangement was switched up a bit and was mastered effortlessly. After the song, Swift moved over to the piano to play the closing track “New Years Day”. Before playing the track, Swift explained the writing process, saying she had two lines in the song in mind for quite some time before penning the track. “Please don’t ever become a stranger/ Whose laugh I could recognize anywhere” was one of them. She explained how she had always been enamored by the obsession people have about kissing someone at midnight on New Year’s Eve when the only person that matters is the one who will still be with you the very next day. It was a breathtaking performance and showcased her growth vocally.

Instead of playing another track from reputation, Swift decided to pay tribute to the late Tom Petty with his song “American Girl,” which was beautifully covered. After the intimate performance, Swift went out into the crowd to take photos with her fans. Needless to say, it was a performance to remember and we’re happy Swift is back in the spotlight.

Reputation is in stores now!
