Mr. Robot season 3 continues, as the show promises one of its most groundbreaking hours to date.

Apparently this week’s episode of Mr. Robot is a game changer. We don’t know why, exactly. Or even if that prediction is true. But for the first time in a long time, the hacker drama seems poised to blow all of our minds.

At least that’s what everyone involved is saying.

Last week’s episode got back to business with a tense, emotional hour that focused on the slow unraveling of Darlene Alderson, as well as her complicated relationship with her brother. (We also got some more weird Angela stuff, but that’s kind of par for the course at the moment.)

A few interesting plot threads were pulled: Darlene now knows Angela’s working with Mr. Robot in some way, Elliot woke up during Mr. Robot’s trip to see Tyrell. But there wasn’t much indication that the next episode would need to be anything out of the ordinary. (Though, to be fair, “ordinary” for a show like Mr. Robot covers rather a lot of ground.)

Even the official synopsis seems pretty straightforward:

"E Corp in chaos elliot on the run darlene comes to help cant stop wont stop angela FTW."

Yet, the actual episode appears as though it will be anything but.

Um, that’s a little bit tense, yeah?

Obviously, something big is about to go down in this episode. The promo touts it as “groundbreaking” and an installment that “everyone will be talking about” the next day. It’s even being presented without interruption. Yup, that’s right. No commercials. That’s how we know for sure it’s going to be wild.

Even the behind the scenes folks are encouraging everyone to watch the episode live:

So what could possibly happen? We have to assume it’s something game changing. Or at least something the Internet could definitely ruin for you if you happen to go on Twitter before you watch the whole episode.

Will Elliot find out about Angela’s duplicity? Could we learn more about Whiterose’s bizarre (and/or possibility extremely science fiction-y) plans? Or is this the moment the Dark Army attempts to make Stage 2 a reality?

It feels like anything could happen. Therefore, maybe this week’s the time to forego the whole DVR thing and actually watch when it airs.
