Star Wars: The Last Jedi tickets: Has Fandango crashed?

Even with advance warning that Star Wars: The Last Jedi tickets were about to go on sale, it looks like Fandango still might not be equipped.

This might be simultaneously the best and worst day of the year so far for Star Wars fans. On the positive side, tonight will bring a new trailer and the opportunity to finally buy tickets for Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

On the negative side, everyone else can finally buy tickets, too … not that we don’t love our fellow fans, but it’s a little hard to be positive when you’re trying to get in to see The Last Jedi before spoilers start making their way onto the Internet.

As of this writing, it looks like Fandango is already experiencing issues, particularly when you log in, according to Josh Hill, who also provided the accompanying screenshot:

Is the hope here that Yoda’s familiar face will soothe angry fans and lure them back to the Light Side of the Force? Because I fully suspect that there are a lot of fans fearful that they won’t get tickets, which may make for angry fans, and then create some fans who hate Fandango and the theater chains … and, well, you get the picture, “suffering” is next up.

Additionally, it seems as though AMC Theatres may not have given data to Fandango yet — as of this writing (12:30 p.m. ET), it doesn’t appear as though all of that chain’s theaters show up when you input your ZIP code in order to pick your theater and showtime of choice, which may direct people to the AMC site. It also seems intentional, because trying to buy tickets for Blade Runner 2049 shows AMC theaters just fine for this writer.

Update (10:36 p.m. ET):

AMC theaters are now on Fandango, but Fandango has also incorporated a line system.

Keep coming back throughout the evening for more status updates on Fandango as we all try and pick up tickets. Maybe don’t turn off your (targeting) computer anytime soon.
