Todrick Hall Surprised By Taylor Swift Comparisons To Beyonce
By Kara Johnson
Taylor Swift’s best friend and one of her dancers in the “Look What You Made Me Do” music video has finally spoken out about those Beyonce comparisons.
As you probably know, Beyonce’s fandom was quick to judge Swift as they saw similarities between her “Look What You Made Me Do” music video and Beyonce’s “Formation” video. But, Hall has come to the rescue to set the record straight and quickly shut it down in a recent interview with US Weekly.
“I was surprised because in the room and in the setting I didn’t feel like this was a really Beyoncé-esque thing to do, but I can see because she has done that pose a lot,” Hall told Us Weekly. “Looking at the set I was just like this is not something that would be Beyoncé aesthetic. It was just a completely different aesthetic and I, as a board member of the Beygency, felt like if we were snatching something from Beyoncé I would have been like ‘OK, Taylor, one second.’”
However, even though Swift didn’t steal anything from Beyonce, Hall states that Swift and Bey both have similar work ethics. According to Hall, Swift came to set and took the choreography very seriously just like Beyonce would. And we believe him. Not to mention, the choreography in the video is really nothing like Beyonce’s. They both have their own flare and style, which we love.
“I was so proud of her,” Hall said. “I could tell that she was a little bit nervous on set so I’m so glad that I was there to hold her hand through it and let her know that she looked great.”
We are so thankful for Hall and the wonderful friend he is to Swift. She couldn’t ask for a better friend and dancer to work with. After all, they worked great together in the video and we wouldn’t complain if we saw them in another video together in the future. Who’s with us?
