As the world is well aware, a new Taylor Swift era is upon us. Every era has a meaning and is significant to not only Swift’s life but ours as well.
If you’ve been paying attention to Instagram, you know that the singer-songwriter has been teasing new music with cryptic videos of what could be a snake or some other form of Reptilia. While many are assuming that this is geared toward the year of 2016, perhaps it’s really not. Perhaps its meaning is something totally different.
Yes, 2016 was a rough year with the media constantly trashing Swift. Do we even have to mention Kanye West and Kim Kardashian? Or the clips that were cut and edited on Snapchat just to make the pop star look bad? It was messed up on so many levels. But Swift handled it with grace. Why? Because Swift tells her side of the story through music.
It’s actually quite mature of Swift to not participate much in the narrative that is constantly surrounding her. Instead, what she does is channel her feelings into music. That’s bravery. It takes courage to pour your heart out into art. It takes bravery to take something so public and turn it into something beautiful.
Is Swift’s new era going to be geared toward West and Kardashian? Maybe she’ll address it. Maybe she won’t. But we don’t think that’s what this era will signify. We believe, without a shadow of a doubt that it could signify rebirth. It could signify a new beginning. She’s changing the narrative and turning it into something that could help someone, to inspire someone and to change someone.
She’s not throwing shade every which way through a tweet. Instead, we think she’s going to shed it all this era and wear her heart on her sleeve. We believe that this era is going to be an era of new beginnings. An era of rebirth. So, yes, the media can think that Swift could be throwing shade in the direction of Katy Perry or Kimye but more than likely, she’s not. More than likely, she’s being brave and sharing her heart with those who mean the most to her. Her fans.
A new era is upon us and we can’t wait to see happens.
