Star Wars: The Last Jedi gets a headline just by putting the heroes on one poster

If you’re Star Wars: The Last Jedi, then all it takes for you to own the day is a new poster that assembles all the galaxy’s best heroes in the same place.

There’s little good news in the world to cling to on a daily basis. Yeah, there’s some sort of scientific phenomenon known as a total solar eclipse happening and the Trump administration is kind of falling apart before our eyes. But we’re also facing the possibility of serial cheater Joss Whedon directing Batgirl and Game of Thrones is more bonkers than we’d like as it comes to a sudden close.

But on days like these, when I need hope the most, I turn to a galaxy far, far away.

Star Wars is one of the few things I have that rarely lets me down. While it certainly has its missteps, it’s still a consistent source of comfort. Even when absolutely nothing is happening with it.

For example, we learned nothing of real value from the Entertainment Weekly coverage, even though there was three days worth of new stories. Further, last week’s Obi-Wan announcement wasn’t exactly a surefire thing. And today, Star Wars: The Last Jedi hasn’t even officially released anything, but a leak, or whatever this is, is as good as anything.

Check it out:

Now, the reason I hesitate to call this a real “leak” or something “new” is because it doesn’t really look like anything Lucasfilm would put together. It really just looks like fan art, but I’m going to allow it because it calls into question whether Luke Skywalker will remain a Jedi or “hero” in The Last Jedi. Plus, Making Star Wars didn’t include it in their morning round-up, so don’t be surprised if you never see these images in the official promotional campaign.

For examples of more legitimate leaks, check out the new BB unit toys or the theater merch that will be available in December.

My point here is that even when Lucasfilm does absolutely nothing, they’re still doing something.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi opens in theaters on Dec. 15.
