Game of Thrones could be the history of Harry Potter characters

As a huge fan of both major cultural phenomena that have magic, dragons, and witches, I often think about a crazy fan theory: what if Game of Thrones could be the prequel to Harry Potter? I know that often, there are fans that just want to see two characters collide, or just find some kind of similarity and run on with it. But if you look at Game of Thrones, you actually see a lot in common with the wizarding world of Harry Potter.

For instance, Westeros parts of Game of Thrones are often filmed in Ireland and other parts of Europe, which would give certain parts the same feel of Harry Potter. You could even go so far as to say that Westeros is some parts of England back when the Earth was only starting to separate into continents. We’re talking ancient history, here. Who knows what they learned in History of Magic, right?

Take the dragons – while you couldn’t put that specific concept with most, or really any, current topics, they’re very relevant in Harry Potter! I’m sure that Bill Weasley knows a lot about the Targaryen family! All of the family chaos would definitely make for a good book or even a course about dragons at Hogwarts!

They could also talk about what magic used to be used for. Bringing people back from the dead, religious purposes — everything that magic isn’t used for now. They could use the past of their people as a way magic has changed over the many, many years.

What if it was even more?

If we really wanted to get into the past of Harry Potter, what if our very own favorite characters were descendants? What if Harry’s family was at one point a Stark? What if Fleur was a Targaryen? Ron as a Greyjoy?

The possibilities are endless for this crossover. If you think of it as history, instead of the characters merging, there’s nothing they couldn’t do!
