The world has been in a Taylor Swift drought this year, and it doesn’t look like it’s going to end anytime soon. We’re all wanting new Swift music in our lives but as of right now, are we ever going to get it? We will but not today or tomorrow or the next day, and that is okay.
The super star has been in hiding since her Super Saturday Night Super Bowl concert back in February. She was true to her word when she said we wouldn’t be seeing much of her in 2017. Her exact words were, “As far as I know I’m only doing one show in 2017, and as far as I know, this is that show,” spoken during the pre-Super Bowl concert. We remember the disappointment that came over the Swiftie fandom because we miss our favorite girl.
But this isn’t the first time Swift spoke about taking time off. She ventured the thought back in October of 2015: “I think I should take some time off. I think people might need a break from me.” Well, we know she certainly wasn’t kidding. The pop star recognized that there is such a thing as being too famous just like many who came before her (have you heard her song “The Lucky One”?). But unlike many other celebrities, Swift took action to fix it.
As far as we know, she skipped out on her annual Fourth of July bash at her home in Rhode Island, has only posted on Instagram a couple times in the last few months, which are all in service of her friends. music releases – one post for each, Selena Gomez, Ed Sheeran, the HAIM sisters, and Lorde. Oh, and we can’t forget the video she made for the MVP Russell Westbrook and her word of support after the Manchester bombing.

With that, we think it’s safe to say that our favorite super star is in hiding, and that’s okay. We miss her but everyone needs a break, including Swift herself. She’s human like the rest of us, and we have to respect the time off that she is taking. She needs this break. Wouldn’t you need it too? Let her live her life because before we know it, she will come back. And when she comes back, it will be with an album and the world will live happily ever after in Taylor Swift Wonderland.
