RuPaul’s Drag Race star Valentina becomes face of high-fashion campaign
RuPaul’s Drag Race star Valentina is now the face of Mexican designer Benito Santos’ high fashion campaign.
She’s perfect, she’s beautiful, she looks like Linda Evangelista…and now she really is a model!
Valentina continues to prove that she is the breakout star of RuPaul’s Drag Race season 9. You may remember her as the queen that famously refused to remove her mouth-covering mask during the lip-sync battle that sent her home. Thankfully, Valentina is not hiding her face any more! In perhaps the most epic (and ironic) possible comeback from #maskgate, Valentina is now the face of Mexican fashion designer Benito Santos’ latest collection. And we are overcome by her eleganza. The Latina sensation is serving NINA BO’NINA WHO REALNESS as the star of Santos’ 2018 Red Carpet Collection, and it. is. everything.
The tea on Benito Santos
Santos, perhaps the most well-known LGBTQ designer in Mexico, gained worldwide recognition for designing the gown worn by Miss Universe, Ximena Navarrete, in the 2010 pageant. He has also designed dresses for Mexican first lady, Angelica Rivera, and a number of telenovela stars. Rumor has it that Valentina received a shoutout from Ximena on Instagram, but we were unable to confirm.
Fans of the designer have described his recent collections as wedding meets disco. His over-the-top gowns are as subtly devious as they are chic. Much like Valentina, who takes an iconic look and cranks it to maximum volume. Even Valentina’s critics (who call her “Villaintina”) seem to concede that she’s a great fit for his brand.
We have to agree! Photos of Valentina in this stunning red dress left us and her Instagram fans SHOOK. We love the color; it’s very Send Roses to Your Enemies…or rather, have your fans do it. Too soon?
In all seriousness though, we are here for this campaign. Look at her. She’s too pretty to stand. Standing is for comedy queens. Quick, give her your seat, Bianca del Rio!
Oh, she’s smiling! And really, that’s all that matters. Right, Aja?
