Buckle up, Potter fans! Bloomsbury has announced two new History of Magic titles to join your collection. This fall, the U.K. publisher will release the books in conjunction with the British Library’s Harry Potter exhibition.
Twenty years after the first publication of J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, we still can’t get enough, and Bloomsbury is riding the wave. Earlier this summer, the U.K. publisher released anniversary editions of the book featuring special Hogwarts house covers. Each one contains exclusive info about its featured house, making the set a must-have for any diehard Potter fan.
Now, Bloomsbury has announced the release of two new books in the Harry Potter book collection. In October, they will release Harry Potter: A History of Magic – The Book of The Exhibition and Harry Potter – A Journey Through A History of Magic. Anyone who ever wondered what classes were really like at Hogwarts, rejoice! Plus, you can learn about wizarding history without listening to Binns drone on about goblin wars. Nice!
The books will act as companions to the British Library’s Harry Potter exhibition, A History of Magic. Opening October 20, the exhibition explores the subjects taught at Hogwarts, and the first A History of Magic book does the same. The second explores historical and cultural traditions in the wizarding world.
For anyone who can’t make it to the British Library before the exhibition closes in February 2018, these books will reveal all the same secrets. Much like Hermione dove into her textbooks before starting school, you can dive into all the background information you ever wanted to know about Hogwarts.
A missed opportunity
Bloomsbury definitely missed an opportunity to name one of these books Hogwarts, A History, but who knows? Maybe that’s coming down the pipeline next. After all, Quidditch Through the Ages and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them have been around for ages. Having the whole Hogwarts textbook set would be delightful (especially for the Ravenclaws out there).
