Three eliminated Food Network Star finalists continue their quest for Food Network salvation. In this episode of Star Salvation, the finalists take on Iron Chef battle bacon for another chance at stardom.
After being eliminated at the mid-season mark, Addie joined Trace and Toya in the Star Salvation kitchen. In this episode, the three contestants battled in an Iron Chef-style competition. With bacon as the featured ingredient, the contestants created a bacon-centric dish and one minute video demo.
With Iron Chef Alex Guarnaschelli cooking alongside them, the contestants had to create a party-friendly bacon dish. Bacon had to be the star component.
Addie, the newest member of the Salvation kitchen, felt quite at home with a party-themed dish. She created a simple bacon appetizer. Using bacon in a weaved-basket pattern, the appetizer was easy to eat and bacon-forward.

More importantly, Addie finally had a camera breakthrough. Her demo was personal and she was likeable. Her story about childhood on the farm painted a picture. With such improvement, Addie was safe.
Trace has a bubbly, engaging personality. Also, a party planner, this challenge worked well for him. Trace conveyed the savory and sizzling aspects of bacon in his demo. His dish was a baguette topped with marscapone cheese and bacon-onion jam. It was a simple, yet flavorful party dish. Based on his dish and demo, Trace was safe.
Toya created a bacon mac n’ cheese dish. Bacon was the biggest flavor in the dish. Her dish was the best example of a bacon-forward recipe. Unfortunately, Toya stumbled in her demo. Her words didn’t flow and she got wrapped up in her head. While eventually finding her rhythm, overall the demo was a miss. Toya was eliminated.
Addie and Trace continue on their quest for salvation.
Eventually one person from Star Salvation will rejoin Food Network Star. While these contestants are getting some extra tips from the secondary competition, I doubt that the redeemed contestant will make it to the finals of Food Network Star. Of course, viewers and fans like to see an underdog achieve greatness. But, each of these contestants were eliminated for a reason. Right now, I don’t see myself watching a show hosted by Addie or Trace.
