In case you thought Nintendo had exhausted its referential options when it comes to DLC costumes for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, worry not.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will be the gift that keeps on giving, it seems. Even if you haven’t already finished everything made available by the first DLC pack, it’s hard not to be enticed by the information Nintendo’s revealed about round two, The Champions’ Ballad.
Thanks to Nintendo Wire, we now have the details. For the fashion conscious among us, there will apparently be a new DLC clothing item for Link to wear.
Happily, it’s the starting shirt from The Wind Waker — the one that that Link wears before donning his proper heroic outfit (or after, depending on if you’re playing a New Game Plus):
It was practically inevitable. After all, the first DLC includes an outfit that lets you dress as Tingle. However, based on the first DLC, which had multiple clothing items, it’s probably safe to guess that this shirt won’t be the only thing you can find after Champions’ Ballad goes live.
One thing we’d love to see, though, is something like Ravio’s outfit from A Link Between Worlds. Nintendo has already shown it’s willing to use material from its handheld games with the Phantom Armor set from Spirit Tracks also featuring in the first DLC pack.
But there’s also a little footage (as in, it’s less than 20 seconds long; also, beware spoilers for the game below):
It’s tough to guess what that snowy area Zelda is riding through may be; the second half is more obvious, though. That’s the Gerudo throne room. The question then becomes whether or not that’s Urbosa sitting on the throne.
Breath of the Wild‘s base game really didn’t explore how the Champions came to be chosen; we see them as an already-formed group in the memories you can find in Hyrule. Digging more into their stories seems like a worthy addition to the game.
Here’s another question: will the Champions’ Ballad be a post-game only story? Probably not, since you can access the Trial of the Sword as soon as you acquire the Master Sword whether or not you’ve finished the game. Additionally, the game doesn’t load up a post-game world for you — your save drops you right outside Calamity Ganon’s chamber in Hyrule Castle.

But Nintendo surprised us before with the depth of content in the first DLC pack, as we mentioned in our review. It’s possible the second will do the same.
