Wondering what Lorelai Gilmore would sound like as a vampire? Well, you’ll find out soon as Lauren Graham heads to Disney Junior to voice a new kind of mom.
There are two things that we can pretty much expect Lauren Graham to absolutely nail from an acting perspective: Motherhood and offbeat characters. (Comedic prowess implied, duh.) Her two biggest television gigs of recent years include Gilmore Girls (including A Year in the Life) and Parenthood, in both of which, she played what Mrs. George would most likely refer to as a “cool mom.”
I mean, I would even say her character from Bad Santa was like a weird mother figure, too. But now, Graham’s doing something totally different while still staying in the same lane that we’re pretty much used to — and that’s voicework for an animated series. Of course, she voiced a really smart part in Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, too. But Vampirina (yeah, isn’t that cute?) will see her in a major role as Oaxana Hauntley, the vampire mother of the show’s protagonist and wife of James Van Der Beek’s Boris.
I know, I know, I can almost taste The WB reunion! It’s the early 2000s again.
Here’s the gist of Disney Junior’s new show, Vampirina, courtesy of Entertainment Weekly:
"As for the young protagonist (better known to her friends as “Vee”), she’ll be dealing with having to be the new kid in town and at her school after her family moves from Transylvania to Pennsylvania to open a local Scare B&B, a bed and breakfast for visiting ghouls and goblins (see the whole family below). Isabella Crovetti (Colony) will voice the character as she experiences the human world and learns to celebrate the differences that make each person special. Lucky for her, she’ll have some help from best friend (and next-door neighbor) Poppy (Sofia the First‘s Jordana Alexa Davis), and close pal Bridget (The Boss Baby‘s ViviAnn Yee)."
Oh my gosh, Graham’s even working in a hotel again.
Though, I already think this will do really well. There’s a lot of talent attached to it, including Patti LuPone and Wanda Sykes. Plus, the teams behind Doc McStuffins and Octonauts are involved. At the very least, it should have a line of pretty cool toys.

Lorelai Gilmore never had a toy. Well, she has a Funko now…
Vampirina premieres on Disney this fall.
