Game of Thrones season 7 spoilers: There’s a partial timeline

Although it’s impossible to completely predict every single episode of Game of Thrones’ seventh season, it appears we do know when a key meeting will occur.

Warning: this will contain discussion of previously-known spoilers for season 7 of Game of Thrones, and that now includes a possible episode when this will happen.

Game of Thrones has just seven episodes this season, and things will happen quite rapidly, at least according to the show’s cast. However now, our sister site, Winter is Coming, has noticed that a Twitter fan has discovered when certain scenes take place because of some official images from an international broadcaster.

Although WiC lays out certain events from episodes 1 and 2, the site notes that the biggest reveal here is that it appears that Jon Snow will meet Daenerys Targaryen on Dragonstone in episode 3. We agree with this assessment, because those who have followed spoilers knew that this was going to happen. We had (admittedly not great) photographic evidence last October, which @yeahclarke, the Twitter user in question, also cites in their assessment. It was a question of when this would happen in the context of the show, not so much if.

But if this pivotal face-to-face encounter doesn’t happen until episode 3, that seems to counteract the promises about things going quickly. Well, perhaps not counteract so much as temper expectations. Dany and Jon are two of the characters who have gotten a lot of the attention in the run-up to season 7. That makes perfect sense, since they’re both Targaryens and royalty and also possibly on the same side, or at least they both don’t like Cersei Lannister, which is close enough in the world of Game of Thrones.

Of course, there’s another interpretation here. Perhaps the Jon/Dany meeting kicks off the big events of the remaining four episodes. That would compress the current layout of Game of Thrones seasons fairly neatly into seven episodes, wouldn’t it?

So, when does the meeting take place in episode 3? Is it the final scene? Will Jon Snow just walk up to her, she turns around, and the episode ends on that kind of cliffhanger? That would certainly be a massive tease at the hands of the showrunners. But Thrones has learned to occasionally take its time over six complete seasons.

Next: Will Jon Snow live through season 7?

This meeting might just be one of those times, so it seems wise to prepare now.
