Weasleys’ Wizarding Wheezes Paints the Night Sky in New Light Show
By April Wefler
The wonderful footage from Wizarding World of Harry Potter Hollywood’s new light show is here, and it’s absolutely mesmerizing.
A trip to DIsney is never complete without catching the special light show at the end of the night that reminds people of all the fond movies of their childhood.
And now, starting on June 23, a trip to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter Hollywood comes complete with an ending fireworks show, too.
The theme park of every 90’s child’s dream has created ‘Universal Studios’ Nighttime Lights at Hogwarts,’ and from the early YouTube footage, it is truly magical.
The show takes place over Hogwarts castle, perhaps so the students tucked away inside the castle – procrastinating for their exams, of course – can see the light show through the Great Hall’s enchanted ceiling.
The light show is like out of a dream
John Williams’ enchanted soundtrack is heard before the Sorting Hat’s booming voice, sparking an emotional response similar to the reaction of hearing Robin Williams’ Genie when he used to fill the sound of Disney’s recently deceased “Wishes.”
In the light show that was undoubtedly designed by the Weasley twins (what do you mean, “twin?”,) the Sorting Hat invites the visiting Muggleborns to try it on, before reciting its famous speech of the Hogwarts House traits.
From the video alone, it is like sitting in the theatre again, a chill running down one’s body as the spellbinding music accompanies the flying blocks of letters.
If it’s that amazing from the footage, then imagine how much more spellbinding it is in person.
Following the Sorting Hat’s speech, it is as if the four houses have all won this year’s House Cup. Wisps of erudite Ravenclaw blue caress the exterior of the Hogwarts castle, coming together to form its eagle flag.
Next, severely underrated Hufflepuff gets the chance to shine. A bubbly and friendly yellow swirls around, splashing out its badger emblem.
Much more eerie music plays as imposing and brash silvery green slithers up the castle walls. There is a painting of the snake and then more lifelike Nagini that could only belong to Slytherin.
Finally, bold and dauntless Gryffindor maroon and gold swirls around. They cloak the castle in the books’ most famous house and its lion flag.
The Houses come together
Then, a shocker: the four competing houses become one as the Sorting Hat shouts out “Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, Slytherin and Gryffindor!” and blue, yellow, green and golden maroon bathe the castle in light, and the Hogwarts crest.
And then, Hogwarts becomes a shining splendor befitting of the only school children actually want to attend.
The show runs multiple times throughout the night, meaning you Ravenclaws, Hufflepuffs, Gryffindors and Slytherins can share in your House pride as many times as you want!
So, what are you waiting for? Get your plane ticket, Greyhound pass, Amtrak itinerary or just your running shoes and head on over to Hollywood.
