“Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD” has been renewed for a fifth season. You can let out that breath you held. Our SHIELD compatriots will return!

We’ve all wondered it since the shift to 10pm: will Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD survive its fourth season?

The fates have been kind to us, who have stuck with it for so long. Yes, indeed! Agents of SHIELD will return in the fall for its fifth season.

There’s not a ton of fanfare around this renewal announcement. It comes amidst a slew of other renewals by ABC, including How to Get Away with Murder, The Goldbergs, and Grey’s Anatomy.

But that doesn’t mean we can’t celebrate. Even Agents of SHIELD‘s Twitter got in on the action:

So what does this mean for the future of the show? And, more pressing, next week’s finale?

Well, it’s fairly obvious that Aida/Ophelia won’t be taking over the world anytime soon. Pretty sure our SHIELD friends will be stopping her. Or make that friends of our SHIELD friends. Because I don’t think they can do much to stop her.

But a demon bent on vengeance? That’s a tough thing to stand up against. Ghost Rider is going to give Ophelia a run for her money.

That then begs the question: How many cliffhangers will they give us in the finale?

It seems as though they knew they wouldn’t be canceled after this season. The amount of plots they had going in this last episode can mean one of two things. One: we’ll be bouncing from place to place (or real world to Framework) in the finale and get too tired. Or two: some things will be left unfinished.

Like Mack and Elena stuck in the Framework. Or if we get that LMD of the Grant Ward who should have been from the beginning. Or if Bobbi and Hunter ever return.

Next: Wonder Woman’s take at the box office seems rather up in the air
