The Catch finale preview: Tommy doesn’t really understand his limitations

Before The Catch wraps season 2 tonight, the show’s executive producer, Allan Heinberg, shares what’s in store for the Mockingbird, Margot, Ben and Alice.

The Catch is about to wrap its second season tonight, but last week, the show unveiled a major surprise. Instead of skipping town and letting the audience think we’d seen the last of him, it appears that Tommy has returned. But not only is he back in the picture, but it appears he’s been pulling some major strings as well. In fact, it appears he never truly left. That drug ring that first introduced the character? Back in play. And as the Mockingbird, Tommy appears to have made himself a powerful contender. Especially against Margot.

Though, according to The Catch‘s executive producer, Allan Heinberg, Tommy may not know exactly how to run the game just yet.

As he explained to Entertainment Weekly:

"“Tommy wants to get away with as much as he possibly can. He would love to be the crime boss controlling the entire city, he would love to make everything right with Alice, which is exactly the opposite of his goal in being the leading crime boss of the city. He’s a kid who just goes for as much as he can possibly get away with in any given circumstance. He’s going to push Margot as far as he can.”"

In not understanding his limitations, it appears that Tommy will go as “far as he can” with Margot. And if we know Margot, many people could die. Especially since Felicity already kidnapped her daughter, Tessa.

Unfortunately, I was under the impression that Felicity and the Mockingbird may be working together. Although that doesn’t seem to be the case.

"“We’re going to see the full extent of Felicity’s revenge on Rhys and Margot and their entire family. In the course of trying to take over what they have, she’s going to find herself coming face-to-face with Mockingbird, which even she doesn’t see coming. All of these disparate storylines that have played out over the course of the season are all going to converge in the finale as Felicity, in trying to take down the family, finds herself vying for power opposite Tommy.”"

I feel like we’ll see Tommy sacrifice himself to do something slightly more honorable if he realizes his step-niece may be in trouble.

Who knows? We didn’t spend enough time with Tommy at the beginning of the season to really guess where he’s headed next.

The Catch season 2 finale airs tonight at 10 p.m. ET on ABC.
