Is a Poldark Season 3 Premiere Date On the Horizon?

Although things have been quiet when it comes to the further adventures of Ross, Demelza, and the rest of the cast of Poldark, could that change soon?

It may be time to start humming the Poldark theme song sooner rather than later. The show wrapped up its second season last year with two pregnancies (both of them thanks to Ross), an upcoming Navy stint for Dwight, oh, and George Warleggan still married to Elizabeth. That’s more than enough to fill season 3, right? Here’s the thing: we might be seeing that season shortly.

The official Poldark Twitter account dropped this little tidbit earlier today.

Now, it may be too soon to jump for joy and prepare yourself for more of Aidan Turner scowling on screen as Ross while Eleanor Tomlinson reminds us that Demelza owns every single second she’s in focus. However, it wouldn’t be the first time Poldark has aired in the spring. The first season did so in the U.K., and it’s important to note that the above account is run by Mammoth Studios. In other words, if the announcement is for the third season, it’s more likely to be for the U.K.

However, Poldark started its second season in the United States not long after the U.K. For example, the season 2 finale aired on Nov. 27 in the U.S., and Nov. 6 across the pond. Sharp-eyed fans may note a discrepancy in the episode numbering. The U.S. airing put the first two episodes together as a double premiere.

In other words, should Poldark premiere soon, it seems wise to say that American fans won’t have to wait much longer than their British counterparts. Of course, it could just wait until the fall, but Gabriella Wilde (Caroline Penvenen) was doing post-production three weeks ago, as she revealed on Instagram (with a hat tip to Inquisitr for the find). Meanwhile, Digital Spy has also confirmed that we’ll have nine episodes.

Presumably, that’ll become eight in the States.

Update, 3:00 p.m. ET: Radio Times has confirmed that the third series will air in June in the U.K. As of this writing, it does not appear that PBS has confirmed an airdate for the States.
