The premiere of Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2 is only weeks away. We have new promotional pictures from the set you’re going to want to see.
It feels like forever, but Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2 are only weeks away from premiering on movie screens. As the date gets closer and closer, we are getting more promotional of pictures from the film. This time these photos are courtesy of the magazine Empire, and they are just stunning.
Empire was given exclusive access to the Guardians set in Atlanta. They also scored a sit-down interview with Guardians Of The Galaxy Director James Gunn about Kurt Russell and his role as Ego The Living Planet. Here’s just a sneak peek at the 8-page spread Empire subscribers should be getting soon.
Let’s take a look at the cover and brilliant pictures from the set.
Empire subscribers should be pretty excited about getting this month’s magazine. This month’s cover personality is none other than the adorable Baby Groot.
Here’s a great shot of the Guardians gunning for a fight. It’s a little strange to see Nebula (Karen Gillan) fighting alongside her sister, Gamora (Zoe Saldana). It just goes to show you that sisterly love is complicated.
Like always, Yondu (Michael Rooker) is always bailing out Peter Quill (Chris Pratt). It’s no surprise in Guardians he’s working along the merry band of misfits. No real surprise Rocket (Bradley Cooper) and Yondu are going to square off. I have to ask, who do you have in that fight?
Here’s Kurt Russell in all of his Ego The Living Planet glory. Director James Gunn is ecstatic Russell signed on for the job since the role was written just for him. In his interview with Empire, he said it was Chris Pratt who floated the idea of Russell to play the human version of his father. Russell never saw the first movie but quickly signed on after watching it. This is what he had to say about being asked to do Guardians 2.
"“The baggage I bring from some of the movies I’ve done is the right kind of baggage to bring into this one.”"
This is one of those moments when casting gets it right. Glad to see Russell is going to be back on the big screen.
Because Gunn is a perfectionist, he hired artist Hal Tenny to create the fractal imagery for Ego’s planet. Here’s what Gunn said about the visual effect’s for Ego The Living Planet.
"“We have over a trillion polygons on Ego’s planet. It’s the biggest visual effect of all time. There’s nothing even close to it. Which is cool.”"
Those are strong words coming from Gunn considering we all saw Doctor Strange and the visual effects were incredible.
What I want to know is who Sylvester Stallone is going to be in Guardians 2. James Gunn has been, in my opinion, unnecessarily tight-lipped on his role. Many fans are speculating he’s going to be one of the Ravagers led by Yondu or Nova Corps member. I’m going with the latter and apparently, so does Google when you look up Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 cast. Things that make you want to, hmmm.
Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 will power blast its way into theaters April 28.
