March Madness is in full swing and things are getting super exciting. Things really got crazy in round 2, including one major upset that changed the bracket up completely! I know that your itching to get the updated bracket and find out who has, or hasn’t moved on to the Sweet Sixteen. However, things are winding down fast and we are only three games from the NCAA Championship. So, here’s a quick run-down guide about what’s happening next.
With the Second Round over, we now have 16 teams left in the bracket. the following games are the ones that you won’t want to miss. This is also where things begin to get really heavy, and why the next round is dubbed Sweet Sixteen. There will be eight games played between the remaining 16 teams. The Sweet Sixteen games will be held on Thursday, 3/23 and Friday, 3/24. You can check out the days, times, and channels below, following the updated bracket.
March Madness Round 2 Highlights
The No.1 seeded Kansas Jayhawks took down Michigan St., with no problems. The final score was 90-70, and they will advance to the Sweet Sixteen. Their next game will be against the #4 seeded Purdue. The game will be on Thursday, 3/23. It will begin at 9:39 pm, and will air on CBS.
The North Carolina Tar Heels, who are the No. 1 seed in the South, plowed on through #8 Arkansas. The final score was 72-65. Their Sweet Sixteen game will be played against #4 Butler. The game will be held on 3/24, at 7:09 pm, on CBS.
And, finally we have the Gonzaga Bulldogs who hold the No.1 seed in the West. They finished their game against #8 North Western, with a win, and the final score was 79-73. Gonzaga will be playing against #4 W. Virginia, on 3/23, at 7:39, on TBS.
March Madness Round 2 Upsets
Okay, back to this game changing upset. Villanova! What happened? Yes, you heard that right. Defending NCAA Champion, Villanova got knocked out in round 2 by Wisconsin, who by the way, were seeded at #8. The Wildcats had all the steam in the world leading up to the second round, but appeared to lose it. The Wisconsin Badgers kept a lead into half-time, where Villanova picked up tried to come back. After some back and forth scoring Wisconsin managed to pull out the win at 65-62. The NY Times reported that Villanova is only the 6th #1 seeded team to get stomped by a #8 team, during the second round, in the past seven years. This also upset millions of brackets…
Wisconsin, on the other hand, will proceed to the Sweet Sixteen against Florida, who is ranked #4. Can they do it again? You can find out by watching the game on Thursday, 3/24 at 9:59 pm. The game will air on TBS.

Another big upset came when #2 Louisville, lost their place to #7 Michigan. The final score was 73-69. Michigan will move to the next round as well, and they are set to play #3 Oregon. Their game will be on 3/23, at 7:09 pm, on CBS.
Then to make matters worse, #3 Florida St., lost to #Xavier. Xavier beat Florida St. with a final score of 91-66. They will advance on to the Sweet Sixteen to play #2 Arizona, on 3/23, at 10:09 pm on TBS.
Then there was still another major upset, when #1 Duke, got knocked out by #7 S. Carolina. S. Carolina ended the game with 88 points to Duke’s 80. They will advance to play #3 Baylor, on 3/24, at 7:29 pm, on TBS.
This was obviously an interesting round 2. In fact, the only two games that we haven’t covered as a #1 seed, or an upset are #3 UCLA, who took down #6 Cincinnati, and #2 Kentucky, who won against #10 Wichita St. The result of these wins is that #3 UCLA will be playing against #2 Kentucky. Their game will air on 3/24, at 9:39 pm, on CBS.
