Two Brand New Teasers for Game of Thrones Season 7 are Here
By Ani Bundel
Over the weekend, HBO saw fit to start teasing Game of Thrones Season 7 with two brand new teasers shorts. Does that mean the trailer is coming soon?
Do you hear that? That rumble in the background coming from somewhere deep in the earth? that’s the sound of the Game of Thrones hype machine testing their engines, readying for the moment when the show is announced to return, and all everything in the world once again is drowned out by the march to the Westerosi Sea.
The hype machine was testing itself all weekend, and as a byproduct of these tests two little teaser shorts seemed to have bubbled up to the crust and *pop* appeared for a split second or two on TVs tuned to HBO for a split second between featured presentations.
Twitter, of course, was on hand to make sure the rest of us didn’t miss them. Check them out.
Our first one, as you can see, is a shot of Oathkeeper, the sword that Jamie gave to Brienne that she attempted to return to him last season, to no avail.
Our second, and far more exciting is the first shot of the Lannisters we’ve had this season. Back last year, the “HBO Year Ender” showed us shots of Jon Snow, Arya and Sansa Stark.
Now, unlike the Stark shots, which were finished production clips, this is Cersei being readied for filming. but it goes hand in hand with the shot of Jamie’s (or really Brienne’s) sword. Both of these are “In Production” shots, which tie back to the only trailer we’ve had for Game of Thrones this season–which featured the crew working in the set shop, props making, hanging up costumes, and preparing the scripts.
Does this mean the first real trailer could be coming soon? With show runners David Benioff and Dan Weiss and actors Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams all making an appearance at SxSW in the forthcoming days, the hope that they’ll be bringing a trailer with them becomes stronger than ever.
