To Costume or Not To Costume? That’s the question on Netflix’s Iron Fist

With the premiere of Iron Fist around the corner, many are wondering if Marvel is going to reveal Danny Rand’s costume during this first season.

The premiere of Marvel’s Iron Fist on Netflix is just days away. You’ve probably already cleared your schedule and have your snacks ready to binge watch this incredible show.

But for those looking for that “Iconic Suit Up Moment” apparently it’s not happening. Gamesradar.com is reporting Iron Fist Showrunner, Scott Buck has stated Danny Rand will not be in costume this season.

In the interview, he goes on to explain why.

"“There was no good reason we could imagine to put Danny Rand in a costume. Because Danny Rand is still discovering who he is as a hero and where he is going to be, so he’s not yet ready to put on a mask or a costume.”"

I don’t think it’s such a bad idea not to have Danny Rand dawn his Iron Fist costume quite yet. One of the great things about watching the Marvel characters on Netflix has been seeing the evolution of these characters. Showing how each superhero develops and becomes who we ultimately know from the comic books. Daredevil got the same treatment and receive rave reviews.

Its movie counterparts don’t have that luxury to dig deep into our hero’s past. Even Marvel mega hit’s like Iron ManCaptain America, and Avengers only give a few minutes of back story. The Marvel shows on Netflix are trying to create a world and depth to the characters that can’t be done in 15 minutes. It also keeps the audience excited and the storylines always unfolding. And who says you need a costume to be a hero. Luke Cage and Jessica Jones are bonafide heroes and have never had a costume per say. Granted, they both had greatness thrust upon them. Luke and Jess, didn’t necessarily want the responsibility but are nonetheless are superheroes.

Let’s not get too wrapped up into when Danny Rand suits up as the Iron Fist. Marvel Cinematic Universe on Netflix has yet to hit a wrong note. I don’t think they are going to start now.

On the other hand, Finn Jones might wanna stop hitting wrong notes on the subject of race and representation in Iron Fist.

Currently he’s has to quit Twitter over it. One would have hoped Loras Tyrell would have been a bit more woke.)
