Pirates of the Caribbean Dives Into Jack Sparrow’s Past

Javier Bardem is hitting the seas in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, and one thing is certain; a pirate’s life is NOT for him.

There’s a new big bad taking over the Caribbean, but it’s no pirate. Actually, Captain Armando Salazar hates pirates. Less surprising, this hatred is thanks to one man in particular: Captain Jack Sparrow.

Here's your exclusive first look at the trailer for "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales"! #PiratesLife

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales debuted its newest trailer on Ellen DeGeneres’ Facebook page Thursday morning. The trailer introduces fans to an almost entirely new set of characters, along with a few old favorites.

The video opens on Javier Bardem’s character in the past, in his regal, Spanish Captain’s clothing, with a menacing “vow to eliminate them all.” Enter one (YOUNG) Jack Sparrow and of course, chaos follows.

Now, Captain Salazar is very dead and VERY angry. As Jack is warned, “The dead have taken command of the sea.” This time around, Captain Jack looks to have the help of a young boy named Henry (Brenton Thwaites) – who looks suspiciously similar to Orlando Bloom, who IS slated to appear in the movie – as they protect a young lady who seems to be the key to everything.

Even Captain Barbossa and Jack the Monkey are back in the fifth installment of this franchise, though Captain Salazar is taking none of their jokes. Dead Men promises to be the “final adventure” for the gang, and thanks to new special effects, looks to be the darkest one yet. But, true to form, Jack is goofy as ever, ending up in prison without any pants.

Walt Disney Studios also released the official movie poster this week, giving a first look at how Salazar has handled death.
