Moana star Auli’i Cravalho Has Reportedly Been Cast in NBC’s ‘Drama High’

The lovely star of Moana, Auli’i Cravalho has reportedly signed on to join the highly anticipated NBC pilot for Drama High.

After coming off of an incredible performance at the Oscars this Sunday, you would think Auli’i Cravalho’s week couldn’t get any better. According to Deadline, things just did for Cravalho. The Moana star has just signed on to join the NBC highly anticipated pilot called Drama High. And it’s shaping up to be the best fall show you can’t miss.

If you were unfamiliar with Drama High, it was widely circulated earlier in the year that NBC ordered a pilot based on the life of high school drama teacher Lou Volpe. The television show is base off Michael Slover book Drama High: The Incredible True Story of a Brilliant Teacher, a Struggling Town, and the Magic of Theater. Slover was once a student of Volpe’s and wrote about his experience of coming alive through the power of the arts. Is this going to be the new version of the movie and NBC television show FameOnly time will tell, but it certainly is looking like it.

Broadway producer Jeffrey Sellers is producing Drama High. He is most known for producing Broadway hit’s Rent, Avenue Q, In the Heights and the smash hit, Hamilton.

Hamilton and In the Heights you say…I think we’ve just found our connection to Lin-Manuel Miranda and Auli’i Cravalho.

Just to sweeten the deal also producing Drama High is Flody Suarez and with Jason Katims. You might know Katims excellent drama work on shows like Friday Night Lights, Parenthood. This isn’t NBC Entertainment and Universal Television first theater-related projects. Over the years the peacock network has found success with the hour long drama Smash and live musical specials likeThe Sound of Music Live!, Peter Pan Live! , The Wiz Live! and most recently Hairspray Live.
