Legion Season One Episode Three Recap: Chapter Three
A new episode of Legion came out tonight and it was everything we could have hoped it’d be and more. Because, you know, this show is incredible.
With each new episode of Legion, we get closer to David figuring out his full potential. And, you know, he also wants to hold his girlfriend’s hand but David can’t get everything he wants. Mainly because Syd can’t hold his hand or they’d switch bodies.
But David has a lot more issues than we ever thought before. Especially when it comes to his sister Amy.
David Teleports
When Melanie, David, and Ptonomy are going through David’s memory exercises, David makes it clear that he does not want them to see something, even if it is out of his control. So when Ptonomy is trying to take them to a memory further away, they somehow end up in the present in a completely different room.
And it isn’t the only time in the episode where he transports. Syd and David end up getting transported when he goes back into the lab to figure out what is going on with him. They end up transporting to where Amy is with the Eye. And the great part is that people can clearly see him wherever he goes.
Syd and David
The saddest of the comic relationships seems to be Syd and David. Because while the rest can at least kiss each other goodbye, they don’t even have that luxury. In fact, they can’t even hold hands with one another.
“Do you love me?” Syd asks David when they have their first real fight, sitting in the bathroom after David decided he didn’t want Syd in his mind. “You know I do.” And then Syd knew that that meant that she had to go into his mind. “Then there’s nothing else to say.”
But it was so much sweeter because Syd finally was able to touch someone. In his mind, her powers don’t work, meaning she can touch people without trading places. So she got to hug a young David and it was a very sweet moment.
Until Syd had to watch David have sex with his ex-girlfriend in his memories while she chased the child version of him around.
Your Brother is a God
The entire episode is set around David trying to get better so that he can rescue Amy. He teleports for the second time to her but Amy doesn’t see him this time. Instead, the Eye focuses in on Syd and David and they have to get out quickly.
But it really shows the love that David has for his sister. So far in the show, she seems to be the only person (other than Syd) who he would do anything for. All he wants to do is make sure that she is safe no matter what.
Melanie’s Adventure
Melanie decided to sedate David so that she could explore his mind uninhibited. In theory, it was a smart move, but because Syd has kissed David, she can see more of the things that David sees than the other two. So Ptonomy and Melanie don’t understand when Syd starts freaking out and chases after young David.
But in the end, Melanie ended up getting stuck in David’s mind when Ptonomy and Syd had already woken up. And when she only discovered the creepy book from David’s childhood, they realized that, in the end, David wasn’t waking up.
Overall, it was another great episode and Legion is proving to be a phenomenal show!
