A new movie about the New England Patriots Quarterback, Tom Brady is being made, and we know the perfect person to play him. It’s not who you think.
Earlier this week Deadline reported a new movie and book is being shopped around about New England Quarterback, Tom Brady’s life. And this isn’t an ESPN 30 for 30. This is a no kidding feature film with Oscar-nominated writers Paul Tamasy and Eric Johnson (The Fighter) and New York Times Bestselling author, Casey Sherman at the helm. Boston reporter Dave Wedge has also been drafted to write with the group. It marks the second time the writers have collaborated on a project; the first being for the movie Patriots Day. It’s unclear how far back in Tom Brady’s history the film will go, but most expect “Deflategate” and Patriots incredible comeback win over the Atlanta Falcons in Super Bowl 51 to be mentioned.
Seeing as Tom Brady is the winningest Super Bowl Quarterback in history, most assumed a movie would be made about his life. What is surprising is the writers would start this project while he’s still an active player in the NFL. Who knows if the project will ever see the light of day, but it got me thinking, who I would cast in the movie.
Most would assume that the Affleck brothers would be leading candidates to be cast as Tom Brady. Ben and Casey are well-known to be New England Patriots super fans and close personal friends with Tom Brady. Casey Affleck also has a connection with writers Tamasy and Johnson after starting in the movie they wrote called The Finest Hours. Another contender for the job and friend of Tom Brady’s is Bourne Identity actor, Matt Damon. All of the actors would give Oscar-winning performances, but they wouldn’t be right for the job. The only real logical choice would be to cast Captain America himself, Chris Evans.

Not only does Chris Evans already have Tom Brady’s guy next door good looks and blond but he’s also a huge fan of the New England Patriots. Evans is about four inches shorter that of Brady, but I don’t think moviegoers would notice or care. Since Evans would already be in peak Captain America body fitness, it wouldn’t take him long to get his body to look like a élite quarterback like Brady. The only problem would be for Evans to find the time to do the project. He’s currently filming Avengers: Infinity War and is attach to a new Jekyll and Hyde adaptation. Let’s hope the powers that be leading the charge for the Tom Brady film consider Chris Evans for the role because he would do it justice.
