Diversity is the name of the game at the BAFTA Awards 2017, which is currently airing live at the Royal Albert Hall in South Kensington, London, England.
While there are some American faces at the BAFTA Awards 2017, the awards ceremony is meant to honor achievements in British film and performance.
And that can be seen with such categories that honored the Best British Film (which went to I, Daniel Blake), the Rising Star Award (which went to Tom Holland), and the Best British Short Film.
But there was more than enough of an American showing, as well. Viola Davis, for example, took home the Best Supporting Actress Award for her role in Fences, while Casey Affleck won for Best Actor in Manchester by the Sea (a film which is currently a top Oscar contender).
Other American winners of the BAFTA Awards 2017 included Kubo and the Two Strings (which nabbed the Best Animated Film award), La La Land (which won the Best Film Award, as well as earning its director, Damien Chazelle, the award for Best Director, and the award for Best Original Screenplay), and the Ava DuVernay documentary 13th, which took home the award for Best Documentary.
