On this week’s episode of How to Get Away with Murder, surprises happened, and some characters started to really show different sides of themselves.

This episode has plenty of doozies, and at least one possible record. Welcome back to How to Get Away with Murder. Let’s recap.

We pick up right where we left off, at least in the world of the flashback. Bonnie low-key threatens Nate, and then Frank loses Wes. She insists that he not hurt Wes, who has picked up a cab and places a call. “It’s Christophe,” he says to his contact, “In Case of Emergency.”

Back in the present, it’s all about preparation. The Keating Four (plus Oliver) start preparing to go to the funeral. Bonnie tries to do an Annalise by putting on her makeup, but ruins it by practicing her speech in the mirror.

Annalise does not seem to take it well that “the kids” — her words, not mine — won’t come to the hearing. Her mom and dad, Ophelia and Mac, walk in as the talking begins.

Well, That Was Fast

Laurel stands beside the big photo of Wes at the memorial and doesn’t get more than five words into her speech before tearing up. Then, though, she gets angry at some random student tearing up.

"Laurel: “It is not your tragedy!”"

She drops the episode title — “Go Cry Somewhere Else” — seven minutes after the episode opens, then walks out. We think that’s a new record.

HOW TO GET AWAY WITH MURDER – “Go Cry Somewhere Else” – Tensions in the courtroom run high, as the prosecution seeks to bring forth a new charge against Annalise. Meanwhile, Nate uncovers a crucial piece of information that could threaten his own innocence, as detectives call Oliver in for questioning on “How to Get Away with Murder,” THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 9 (10:00-11:00 p.m. EST), on the ABC Television Network. Bonnie doesn’t get her motion to sever Frank and Annalise’s cases, and doesn’t get bail again. Frank at least doesn’t like his lawyer fighting. Annalise tries to get her parents to go home. It doesn’t look like she succeeds.

In the courthouse, Frank tells Ophelia he can’t help Annalise. She does not take that well. Back in the cell, Annalise finally snaps, gets a new nickname.

Our Hearts Hurt

Simon Drake, jerk extraordinaire, takes a step down to express his condolences. Then, though, he asks if Annalise did it. Oliver finally snaps.

Meanwhile, we find Laurel in the coroner’s office, trying to see Wes’ body. For a second, it almost looks like she’ll succeed, but she fails and proceeds to walk out.

Oliver gets a mysterious call. It’s from the cops. They all immediately head to Bonnie’s, and that’s when the panic attack kicks in.

Ophelia and Mac pay a visit to their daughter in prison. They insist they’re here to help.

"Ophelia: “All I have to do is tell the police the truth.”"

The confession is very believable, and both Ophelia and Annalise are in tears. Annalise insists to her father later that it wasn’t a story, and now we’re really concerned. After all, Ophelia’s burned down a house before…though it came out two seasons ago.

Oliver gets a little practice with everyone, and finally insists that he did what he did willingly. Then with the detective, he puts on a show — a very good show. He gets a high five from Asher later.

Surprise, Surprise

Michaela visits Laurel’s apartment, then sits down to wait. Turns out that Laurel’s having a garage meeting with Nate. She uses some world-class emotional manipulation, and she gets her wish to see Wes’ body.

Except Wes’ body isn’t in the cooler Nate opens. He promptly goes to have a meeting with the DAs, and yes, they have lost the body.

Even Bonnie knows they can use this. But all Annalise can talk about is the fact that Ophelia has dementia.

"Annalise: “Just help me with my mother.”"

Asher pours celebratory drinks for himself, Connor, and Oliver, then pours one out for Wes too. Meanwhile, Michaela helps Laurel get into bed, and the topic turns to Frank. Instead of answering whether or not she thinks Frank did it, Michaela slides into bed next to Laurel.

The next day, Ophelia and Mac return to visit Annalise, and then Ophelia heads off for some talking time. The talk turns to Annalise’s childhood abuse, and finally he calls her selfish.

Michaela has set up a meeting with Frank for Laurel, and Laurel goes. The public defender cuts the meeting off when she asks about the last words. Then, in the post-interview breakdown, she insists Frank didn’t do it.

Then Bonnie gets a call. She, ADA Atwood, and the judge meet about the missing body. And then Bonnie makes her case. Unfortunately, there’s no bail, but she’s going to try and get a new judge. Annalise hangs up on her, though.

Walking Out, Walking In

Back in the cell, she starts to talk to her mean cellmate, Jasmine, and suggests that Jasmine actually molested her kids. Jasmine starts punching. When Bonnie arrives, she snaps some pictures.

A new cellmate takes Annalise’s place. She walks out in her own clothes.

Meanwhile, Michaela cannot find Laurel yet again. To help distract herself, she and Asher start getting it on. Laying in bed together with Connor, Oliver finally starts cracking up in laughter about the absolutely ridiculous day he’s had.

"Oliver: “I am a good liar.”Connor: “I know. I just said that.”"

And then Oliver delivers the coup-de-grace: he has a copy of Annalise’s phone data. You know, the stuff he was supposed to delete? That’s his escape route.

Laurel visits Wes’ apartment, breaks a police seal to get inside, and picks up one of his shirts. A bit later, we see her wearing the shirt and sobbing.

That night, Bonnie gets a call from Frank. He’s representing himself now, which means that everything they say to each other is privileged as her co-counsel.

Annalise, meanwhile, has dinner with her parents. Ophelia again insists that she burned the house down, and the way she speaks suggests she really is blending past with present. Her daughter tells her a lie about the charges being dropped.

The DA reveals that yes, there really is a conspiracy — and apparently Nate signed off on transferring the body to a different morgue. Now we get another flashback. Nate arrives at the house and sees Wes arrive that night.

The two exchange greetings, and that’s it. The episode ends.
