John Boyega shares pic of Pacific Rim sequel and confirms he is Stacker’s son

Lets all take a moment to thank John Boyega for sharing a recent photo from the set of Pacific Rim: Uprising on Twitter

Photos from set were spreading around social media a few months ago but this one is extra special coming from John Boyega himself.

He looks a little somber but that’s to be expected when the world is being taken over by unrelenting Kaiju monsters. Instead of wearing Jaeger pilot gear, he sits in the shadows of a once thriving operation.

Hang in there John, we know you’ll save humanity.

John Boyega is Stacker Jr.

So far we know John is the son of Stacker Pentecost (Idris Elba) and that must mean he’ll be battling the Kaiju monsters at some point. But, little else was known about his character. We don’t know his name or anything else about his personality. And, I have to wonder if he’ll actually be piloting a Jaeger at all. In many of the leaked photos he is wearing civilian clothes. And, the program was on the verge of losing funding in the first movie.

There’s been many changes in the plot of the film and the official title has changed too. Honestly we have more questions than answers at this point. Where was Stacker’s son in the first film? There was no mention of him and we thought Stacker was infertile because of radiation poisoning.

But, John’s character was probably born before the program started. If that’s true maybe he never knew Stacker was his father or what if they were estranged?

In other good news, Mako Mori (Rinko Kikuchi) is set to return for the sequel and I couldn’t be happier. Mako showed that a woman could be a damn good Jaeger pilot and fighter. I wonder what she’ll think of John’s character and if they’ll be drift compatible since Charlie Hunnam’s character won’t be returning for the sequel.

In the meantime, all we can do is wait for John to release more photos and hopefully some clues from set. Oh and a trailer would be nice!
