‘Marvel’s Runaways’ Casts Its Team for the Upcoming Hulu Series

Marvel Television announced yesterday that they’ve cast their first group of actors for their upcoming Hulu series called Marvel’s Runaways.

It’s all finally happening, and we, for one, are here for it.

Runaways follows a group of teenagers in the Marvel universe. Immediately, they bond over their one common denominator — evil parents! Based on a comic series created by Brian K. Vaughan and Adrian Alphona, Hulu picked up Marvel’s Runaways a while ago. Here’s the synopsis:

"Every teenager thinks their parents are evil. What if you found out they actually were? “Marvel’s Runaways” is the story of six diverse teenagers who can barely stand each other but who must unite against a common foe–their parents."

As announced yesterday, Marvel’s team for the upcoming Runaways series has come together.

Now, here’s what we know about the cast:

Rhenzy Feliz (from Teen Wolf and Casual) stars as Alex Wilder. Wilder comes off as bit of a loner. But he’s also a nerd who spends his free time playing video games and just wants to get his childhood group of friends back together.
Our second team member is Lyrica Okano (best known for her roles on The Affair and Unforgettable). Set to play Nico Minoru, she’s a tough and independent goth teen. Further, she’s a Wiccan and spends a lot of time isolating herself from most as she learns to use her powers to their full potential.
Virginia Gardner (known for her roles in Goat and Little Bitches) will bring Karolina Dean to life. On the outside, Karolina’s life seems to be picture perfect. But the pressure is often too much. And what Karolina really wants is to find herself. Whoever that is.
Ariela Barer (from New Girl and One Day at a Time) will be playing Gert Yorkes. Yorkes is a purple-haired, punk kind of girl who isn’t afraid to speak her mind. Plus, she stands up for what’s right and she’s ready to fight! It may just be a front for what she’s feeling deeper down, though.
Gregg Sulkin (of Faking It and Don’t Hang Up fame) will star as Chase Stein, a lacrosse player. As the quintessential heartthrob who doesn’t exactly fit the “dumb jock” stereotype, he struggles to fit in. On the contrary, he may just be a genius engineer like his father.
Finally, Allegra Acosta (known for 100 Things to do Before High School and Just Add Magic) stars as Molly Hernandez, the baby of the band of runaways just looking for a place to belong.

So, it looks like the group is finally taking life!

“The fun and chemistry that this group of talented actors create is wonderful and we’re so excited to bring these beloved characters to life,” said Marvel Television executive producer Jeph Loeb in the announcement.

Of course, Marvel’s Runaways will be run by writers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage (The O.C., Gossip Girl ). And Jeph Loeb (Marvel’s Luke Cage, Marvel’s Iron Fist) and Jim Chory (Marvel’s Daredevil, Marvel’s Jessica Jones) joins them as EPs, with Lis Rowinski set to produce.
