Daniel Radcliffe to Take to the Stage Once Again with Shakespeare

Daniel Radcliffe’s upcoming performance in Rosencrantz And Guildenstern Are Dead may be based in London – but there’s still a way to enjoy it without the hefty airfare.

The Harry Potter star’s latest appearance at the Old Vic theater in the West End will be broadcast live on National Theatre Live on April 20, 2017. The group has been broadcasting select shows live since 2008.

"“Our broadcasts have now been experienced by over 5.5 million people in over 2,000 venues around the world, including over 650 venues in the UK alone. Past broadcasts from the National Theatre have included Danny Boyle’s Frankenstein with Benedict Cumberbatch and Jonny Lee Miller; War Horse; Man and Superman with Ralph Fiennes; and Everyman with Chiwetel Ejiofor.”"

Tickets and venues for the showings have not been released, yet.  However, the group promises best camera angles and an authentic experience for all.

"“Though each broadcast is filmed in front of a live audience in the theatre, cameras are carefully positioned throughout the auditorium to ensure that cinema audiences get the ‘best seat in the house’ view of each production. Where these cameras are placed is different for each broadcast, to make sure that cinema audiences enjoy the best possible experience every time.”"

It was announced in October that Radcliffe would be starring in the 1966 play written by Tom Stoppard.  It focuses on two characters from Shakespeare’s classic Hamlet. The London production will mark its 50th anniversary.

General booking begins on November 2 with previews beginning February 25 and opening March 7.

The stage performance is far from the first for Potter himself. In 2007, Radcliffe made his stage debut in Equus, for its first revival since 1973. He starred in the play’s run on the West End and later for its Broadway run. In 2011, Radcliffe starred in the Broadway revival of How to Succeed In Business Without Really Trying. The production also starred John Larroquette, Rose Hemingway and Mary Faber. In 2013, he went on to perform on the Broadway again in The Cripple of Inishmaan.
