Supergirl 209: 4 Shocking Moments

facebooktwitterreddit

The second half of Supergirl’s second season premiered this week and it was worth the long hiatus. So let’s break it all down.

First of all, if you missed this week’s Supergirl, I highly suggest leaving this article right now and watching it. But if you really don’t have the time or you’re just crazy, then you can catch my recap here before reading any further. Because there will be spoilers.

Okay, so now let’s talk some shocking moments from Supergirl 209:

Maggie knows!

Before we talk just Maggie, can we gush over the sanvers scenes in this episode!? Because, OMG. That morning scene was everything I never knew I needed from this show. Why? Because when is the last time two women had a scene like that on a TV show? Seriously. Please let me know. When’s the last time two women were just genuinely happy in a scene without that scene being there for something significant? Never!!! Petition for more scenes like that.

Anyway, back to Maggie “I’m a detective and I detect” Sawyers.

She. Knows. About. Kara.

Okay, but the glasses really don’t do anything so I’m surprised she’s the only one who has figured it out. The point is, Maggie knows! And Alex didn’t have to tell her. To be honest though, if my girlfriend (or whatever they are) didn’t tell me that her sister was Supergirl, I’d be pretty pissed off. Right!? Is that just me? But Maggie seemed okay with it so I’m okay too, I guess.

Before I just talk about Maggie and Alex all day (which I totally could), let’s move on to the next shocking moment…

MonEl is… Royal? Important? A God?

What the heck was up with those aliens bowing to MonEl!?! Is he royal? Why is he important? Do they worship him? I don’t know!

I can’t say I’ve gained a liking towards MonEl this season but I am a little intrigued that aliens are willing to spare his life and then bow to him as he runs away. Also, he wants to be a superhero now so maybe that’ll make his story arc a little more interesting. As long as his story doesn’t interfere with Kara’s story, then he can stick around. The first half of S2, his character was whiny and needy and to be frank, just annoying. So I’m actually glad that he’s finally ready to use his power for good instead of clinging onto Kara.

Winn steps up.

I love Winn. I think he’s a great character who doesn’t get enough screen time and who often gets thrown into a scene for good measure. This episode though, Winn took charge. We finally saw what Winn was capable of, and that he enjoyed being the hero for once. I need more of this Winn and less of James trying to boss him around.

Speaking of James, does he even have a purpose anymore in this show? If he does, please let me know because I’m finding it harder to notice.

Where TF is Lena?

Ummmm. Where was Lena this episode? I’m sure it’s no surprise by now that I am a total supercorp supporter, but we can’t have “supercorp” without the “corp.” Looking at you, Lena. I desperately need more scenes between Kara and Lena this season so I’m going to need Lena to get back into the picture ASAP.

I mean, look at this chemistry:

Well, between Alex, Maggie, Lena, and Kara, I think this show is pretty much covered for attractive women. I also love that the relationships and friendships revolve a lot around these four. We got a scene between Maggie and Kara tonight that just hit it out of the park. Then the scene where Alex was giggling about Maggie to Kara… Magic.

Not sure how any other episode is going to outdo this mid season premiere but I’m certainly willing to find out.
