New details on Marvel’s Black Panther, including the plot synopsis and a character rundown, have us more excited than ever for the movie.
Black Panther is the most anticipated Marvel release these days, thanks to its insanely packed cast and a scene-stealing performance from Chadwick Boseman in Captain America: Civil War. The film has started shooting in Atlanta, and Marvel is teasing us with the official plot synopsis for the film.
"“Black Panther” follows T’Challa who, after the events of “Captain America: Civil War,” returns home to the isolated, technologically advanced African nation of Wakanda to take his place as King. However, when an old enemy reappears on the radar, T’Challa’s mettle as King and Black Panther is tested when he is drawn into a conflict that puts the entire fate of Wakanda and the world at risk."
The cast is a mix of old and new faces to the Marvel Cinematic Universe! Chadwick Boseman reprises his role as T’Challa, naturally, with Andy Serkis’s character from Avengers: Age of Ultron, Ulysses Klaue aka Klaw, and Martin Freeman’s Captain America: Civil War character Everett K. Ross both making an appearance.
New to the MCU is Michael B. Jordan (Creed, Fruitvale Station), who will play the lead villain Erik Killmonger. Killmonger is described as a Wakandan in exile who seeks to overthrow the new king (T’Challa). Also joining the cast is Emmy-winner Sterling K. Brown (The People Vs OJ Simpson: American Crime Story) as N’jobu, someone from T’Challa’s past, according to Entertainment Weekly.
The Dora Milaje, the all-female Secret Service of Wakanda, consists of Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o (12 Years a Slave), Danai Gurira (The Walking Dead‘s Michonne), and Florence Kasumba, who appeared in Captain America: Civil War.
That’s a pretty stacked cast already, but there’s still more A-listers packed into Black Panther! Angela Bassett will play T’Challa’s mother Ramonda. Forest Whitaker will also appear as Zuri, a warrior who worked with T’Challa’s late father.
Rounding out the cast is Winston Duke as villain M’Baku, known as Man-Ape to comics fans, and Ready Player One star Letitia Wright in a still unknown role.
To make things even better, this super stacked cast will be directed by Ryan Coogler (Creed, Fruitvale Station). He also penned the script with The People vs OJ Simpson writer Joe Robert Cole.

Black Panther will be released in 2018, which is entirely too far away.
