Harry Potter and the Cursed Child has been making a splash with fans across the world and now rumors are coming about a continuation of the series.
Are we going to get a movie of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child? It’s like mothers always say – take those rumors with a grain of salt.
Rumors have been swirling lately that Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint have been approached to reprise their roles as the iconic trio for a Cursed Child film trilogy. The talks came after theme park journalist and historian Jim Hill last week discussed on the Unofficial Universal Orlando Podcast that a “trilogy of movies that will be based on ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child'” was in the works.
Whether there’s any truth to that is still uncertain, but last week, J.K. Rowling weighed in on those rumors – and shut them right down.
And, she would (we assume) know. Rowling co-wrote Cursed Child, set 19 years after the final installment of the series, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.” Stage production opened in London in 2016, and the script was published last summer, as well.
If you ask Rowling: Don’t get carried away just yet, Potter fans.
The Source of the Rumors
Hill, however, took to Twitter after Rowling’s denial to respectfully address the confusion, and where he got his information – allegedly from a source at Warner Bros.
Were it true, the rumored 2026 release date for the films would line up with previous reports that Warner Bros. would pursue the trilogy after the completion of the five “Fantastic Beasts” films, due to hit theaters every even numbered year from now until 2024.
Warner Bros. released the first installment of the five part series “Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them,” last year. It made more than $802 million worldwide, while the eight-part original Potter series made more than $7.72 billion.
But Rowling, clearly, doesn’t want fans getting their hopes up for more (yet).

For those looking for their Cursed Child fill, not all hope is lost. The play is still running at the West End for now, and will potentially be brought to Broadway some time in 2018.
