The wait is finally over. The nominations for the 89th Academy Awards were announced this morning by Oscar winners Jennifer Hudson (Dreamgirls), Brie Larson (Room), Emmanuel Lubezki (The Revenant) and Oscar nominees Jason Reitman (Up in the Air) and Ken Watanabe (The Last Samurai). Academy President, Cheryl Boone Isaacs was also on hand to reveal the nominations. The nominations were broadcasted during the Academy’s first ever livestream. You can watch the announcement of the Academy Awards nominations on Oscar.com and their YouTube Channel.
Famed ABC Late-night talk show host, producer, and comedian Jimmy Kimmel is hosting the 89th Oscars. This is Kimmel’s first time hosting the Oscars, but not hosting an event this size. Last year, he hosted the 2016 Primetime Emmy Awards.
The Academy Awards telecast is produced by three-time Oscar-nominated producer Michael De Luca and Emmy-nominated producer Jennifer Todd. Both producers have complete faith Kimmel will make it a memorable night for everyone.
The 89th Academy Awards will air live on the ABC Network at 8:30 PM Eastern on Oscar Sunday, February 26, 2017.
