Star Wars Episode VIII Title Confirmed!

As confirmed by Lucasfilm today, the next entry in the Star Wars saga, previously known as Episode VIII, will be titled Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

It was just a matter of time before we received this news and now it’s finally here: Episode VIII will be titled, Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Of course, now we’re free to speculate what that means but based on some of the information we’ve received, this may be entirely based on Luke. Especially when you look at the wording of the tweet below:

Like, why did they have to put “Skywalker” saga in there? Did they want to make sure people understand this is a saga film and not a standalone? Or did they want to assuage anyone who feels worried about Mark Hamill / Luke Skywalker’s screentime? Or did they just confirm Rey’s lineage?

(I’m overreacting on purpose.)

On the other hand, I really like this particular color scheme. That’s obviously Sith red. Unfortunately, allow me to remind everyone that Kylo Ren a.k.a. the Guy Who Killed Han Solo also commands the Force. As the Star Wars movies tend go, there may be some redemption in his future as well. Let it be known that Jedi, like the word “fish”, can also be used as a plural. So that title can refer to everyone and anyone. Obviously, there are so few details available now that speculation will just run rampant until we get more concrete news. Since Lucasfilm always makes the Star Wars logo yellow, I think changing the color says a lot about what we can expect from this film. Of course, we can freely assume it’s going to be a little dark. Though, I just hope it’s not the ending of Rogue One dark.

(Ed Note:
It’s the laaaaaaaaaaaaast Jedi
It’s the last wish
It’s the laaaaaaaaaaaaast Jedi
Soon it will be boom
Squish!)
