New Music for January 20, 2017

New music being released this week includes AFI, Foxygen, and Kid Koala. Watch for them on Amazon, iTunes, and Google Play on Friday, January 20th.

A new week means new music! The year is off to kind of a slow start but we’ve got a few great albums coming out this Friday.

AFI, AFI (The Blood Album)

AFI’s new self-titled album, also called The Blood Album, marks somewhat of a comeback for the alt-rock group. Like a few other bands that hit it big in the early 00s, AFI seems to be banking on the nostalgia factor with hopes of attracting the former emo kids who are now in their late 20s and have more buying power. AFI’s scene-kid fans have matured and so have they as you’ll hear on The Blood Album, the band’s tenth studio album. For those who enjoy collecting vinyl albums, you’ll have four color variants to choose from, one for each blood type — A, O, B, and AB. AFI has been dropping hints about the new album for a few months now, including the release of two singles from the album, “Snow Cats” and “White Offerings.” This will be AFI’s first album since their 2013 release, Burials.

The video for “Future Politics” starts out with a caption that reads, in part, “a world can be created only if we can imagine it.” Austra also attempts to find the silver lining with songs like “Utopia” and “We Were Alive”.
