4. Her Adoption of Technology

When President Obama ran for president in 2007, he was one of the first politicians to have a Twitter account. Some could say it helped tremendously getting his message across and winning the election. Not long after coming to the White House, Michelle Obama also started her own social media accounts on Twitter, Snapchat, and Facebook. Now, Mrs. Obama is not sharing recipes for the best pot roast on her Facebook page. No, she’s talking about projects close to her heart, social progress and of course a little fun.

FLOTUS spoke recently to InStyle about her use of technology and here’s what she had to say.

"“We can fool ourselves into thinking that everybody is still watching the evening news, but I live with Generation Z, and I know that their habits, the way they take in information in, is so different. And they’ve changed… We’ve got to meet our constituents where they are, and they’re on Snapchat.”"

She could not be more right. We live in a digital world and if she wants her message to reach the people and resonate with them, she had to present it in a way that would make us pay attention. That might mean participating in a hashtag or create one and even making a viral video. All we can only hope is she will keep her social media accounts going long after she leaves the White House.
