Why A Black Widow and Hawkeye Movie Totally “Makes Sense”

It totally makes sense for Black Widow and Hawkeye to have their own Marvel movie and here are a few reasons why it should happen.

In an interview, Jeremy Renner told the British paper Metro and the Edmonton Sun that a Black Widow/Hawkeye movie “makes sense”. Why? Well, the two super spies are “quite similar – they don’t have powers, have high skill sets, and have history together” which is even referenced in the first Avengers film.

"Black Widow: Just like Budapest, all over again.Hawkeye: You and I remember Budapest very differently."

We agree with Jeremy here. How can they give us these hints about something epic happening in Budapest without any payoff? And even in their most recent match-up in Captain America: Civil War, the pair is obviously very fond of one another–despite being on different “sides” of this particular battle.

So the next question: is there a demand for a film about the last two original Avengers without a stand-alone film? Fans (other than just me) want the film as well, expressing their frustration and hopes on Twitter.

Black Widow and Hawkeye clearly have history and a film of them both wearing all black and stealthily taking out some spies would be a great addition to the over-saturated superhero market. Their skills aren’t of the supernatural variety and their humanity makes them even more relatable. If you know anything about Black Widow’s history, there’s enough backstory there alone to make a compelling narrative in which her buddy Hawkeye helps her fight battles of her past. So what do you say, Marvel? Can this adorable friendship finally get a film of their own? Can we finally see these besties on screen in a film of their own?

Marvel Studios has films planned through 2019, including more Avengers films. So while we’ll surely see both characters back on the big screen, we likely wouldn’t see a Black Widow/Hawkeye film for several years at the earliest. But it’s nice to dream, isn’t it?
